Ewing Sarcoma

Lucie Carrington's story

Lucie describes St Valentines Day during her illness; "At 15 I was having my second Valentines Day with my FIRST EVER boyfriend; we had just reached our 1 year anniversary in December and I was just so happy, until I found out I had a Ewings Sarcoma, which is a type of bone cancer. That Valentines Day will always be one I remember most, I made him a meal we gave each other cards and presents, pretty normal until I plucked up the courage to tell him something Id been dreading. I told him that I wouldn't think badly of him if he wanted to break up and call its quits, because who would want a girlfriend who could potentially be dead by next year. We were so young and I didn't want him to feel like he HAD to stay with me, just because I was ill." "He didn't break up with me, after a lot of tears from both of us, he told me he loved me and would stick by me no matter what, which he did! I don't think I would have got through it without him."
